Hi, I’m Daphne

I have a passion for bringing creativity, play and imagination into my practice to support my client’s exploration of themselves, their relationships and life goals. I trust that expression through the arts will help clients tap into new and different ways of thinking, feeling, and seeing, resulting in a greater capacity to be in and to relate in the world. I complement my practice with talk, mindfulness and trauma informed therapies. My aim is to provide a rounded support system for clients to feel heard, to de-stress, to connect to their inner resources, and build life skills.

Through Expressive Art Therapy, I am so excited to be with you in a space of judgement free creativity to help you connect with your own resources , and live fully.

Navigating day to day living can have its challenges with uncertainties and can sometimes feel unfair or cruel. I’ve always had a desire to experience life as fully as I have the capacity and potential to do so while experiencing both the ups and downs. I have found that cultivating self-awareness and connecting with others was the path for me. I have a natural tendency to be curious, compassionate and creative. Thus the arts and nature are very important resources for me and support my life learning and growth.

My three year training in Expressive Arts Therapy provided the mental health education, and the skills and experience with Expressive Art modalities. My Artfull practice offers to support you to connect to the resources and skills you need now that would best serve you.

Life is not always easy, however if you show up something will happen. Connecting through the arts in a therapeutic environment, can help to guide and to build relational capacity. I had a long career in Corporate IT and was looking to change. With the guidance of Expressive Arts therapy, I made the transition to a more fulfilling path. Of the communities I did expressive arts placements with, I reflect on my work with refugee children and witnessing them develop more capacity to feel safe and relate to others through Expressive Arts Therapy.

I am passionate about supporting children, youth and adults experiencing disconnect, adversity, grief and trauma to give voice to their experiences through narrative, art, expression or ritual.

My three year Expressive Arts education was completed in 2020 at CREATE Institute, Toronto.

I completed over 250 hours of Expressive Arts placement experience with various communities. I continue to work with clients one on one for Hospice Toronto in the areas of bereavement and young care-givers.

Additional education in mental health includes:

  • Palliative and Bereavement Care training with Hospice Toronto incorporated mental health specific knowledge of death and dying

  • At Toronto General Hospital for my Psychology Ward placement, I completed Crisis Intervention Training, mental health workshops and gained experience of the clinical team setting.

  • Mindfulness Meditation Certification at University of Toronto, School of Social Work, gave me specific knowledge of the neuroscience and applications of mindfulness.

  • Transpersonal Therapy Certification, 3 year program with Transpersonal Therapy Center Toronto, where I started my training in therapy with Jungian, Gestalt, and somatic theories in 2007.
